Police Search For Missing Guerneville Woman

GUERNEVILLE -- A Guerneville woman last seen at a bar early Sunday morning may
have been kidnapped, authorities said. The Sonoma County Sheriff's Department reported that Michelle
Johnson, 32, was last seen at the bar McT's Bullpen on First Street in
Guerneville at 1:20 a.m. A male friend called police to report her missing,
said Sgt. Steve Freitas. Shortly after that, a witness reported seeing a woman in distress
in a red full-size pickup truck, possibly a Ford or a Toyota with an extended
cab, Freitas said. The truck was in the 17700 block of state Highway 116, a
semi-rural area between Guerneville and Monte Rio, he said. Freitas said some of Johnson's clothing was found nearby, and
police believe she is injured or in danger. The California Highway Patrol reported shutting down two lanes of
traffic as part of a crime scene on Highway 116 from about 3 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Sunday. Traffic was also closed on Cnopius Road, a spokesman said. Freitas said the sheriff's department has performed two searches
on foot and in a helicopter and that boats are searching the Russian River
for signs of Johnson. Johnson is described as a white woman with brown hair and blue
eyes, 5 feet 6 inches tall, who weighs about 125 pounds. Anyone with
information about this case is asked to call the Sonoma County Sheriff's
Department at (707) 565-2185.
