The Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation and a LucasArts video game programmer have joined together to grant a special wish to a local boy. Nine-year-old Ben Duskin is in remission from Leukemia. When he came to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he wanted to create a video game in which the hero battle cancer cells through several levels. Ben felt that the game would be helpful for kids like him who have cancer by providing a way to fight back and relieve some of the pain and stress involved with treatment.

Leukemia Patient's Video Game Dream Comes True

The Foundation went out to local game companies to find a champion to make Ben's wish come true. A real-life hero stepped forward: Eric Johnston of LucasArts. Not only did Eric want to make Ben's wish a reality, he wanted to involve Ben in every step of the process. For months, Ben and Eric have been meeting on a regular basis to make the game just as Ben has envisioned it.

In addition to unveiling the game (called Ben's Wish) at a press conference being held at Zeum Tuesday afternoon, the game will also be available for free download starting Friday, May 7th on a special page that can be found at the Make-A-Wish Foundation Web site.
