3.9-magnitude quakes strikes near Alum Rock in San Jose

- An earthquake with a magnitude of of 3.9 struck the South Bay on Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake erupted along the Calaveras Fault shortly after 9:30 a.m. People stretching from Newark to Santa Cruz said they felt it and described the feeling of a huge jolt.

Many people, including Mayra Lopez, said it felt even stronger than a 3.9. "My dogs were going crazy," Julie Wisefield wrote on Facebook. 

The quake in Northern California came shortly after a 3.8-magnitude quake in Southern California.
