SAN FRANCISCO -- A San Francisco woman preparing a meal in her kitchen this afternoon was killed by an intruder who is still at large, according to police Sgt. Neville Gittens. Around 3:45 p.m., the suspect entered the Bayview District home in the 900 block of Ingerson Avenue and confronted the woman. A single shot was fired, and the suspect was last seen fleeing the scene on foot, Gittens said. The victim, a Hispanic woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Gittens. Police describe the suspect as being African-American, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 200 pounds, and having dreadlocks. No motive for the homicide has been established, Gittens said. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is urged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
