SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO -- At least eight juveniles have been arrested in the past several months for their involvement in prostitution, according to South San Francisco police.

The most recent arrests occurred on Nov. 9, when undercover police arrested a 20-year-old woman, Tykia Conway, and a 14-year-old girl in a South San Francisco motel after responding to a solicitation posted on the community Web site Craigslist, according to police.

Conway admitted being an active prostitute and posting ads for herself, according to a police statement. Police believe Conway also was pimping the girl.

While both Conway and the girl initially provided false information about their identities, they were later identified, police said. The girl is believed to be a runaway from Oakland, according to police.

A computer used for posting the ads, a cell phone "believed to contain photographs of the juvenile in sexually suggestive poses and other items related to prostitution" were found in the motel room, according to the police statement.

Conway was booked at the San Mateo County jail on felony charges and an outstanding warrant. The girl was held at the San Mateo County juvenile facility for attempted prostitution.

The South San Francisco case marks the second time this week Bay Area police have reported Craigslist being used for online solicitation. On Tuesday a 22-year-old Martinez woman was arrested for allegedly attempting to prostitute her 4-year-old daughter.
