Woman Allegedly Bites Off Man's Fingertip In Drunken Santa Cruz Fight

SANTA CRUZ -- A drunken woman allegedly bit off the tip of a man's finger during a fight at Grant Street Park in Santa Cruz Monday afternoon, the Santa Cruz Police Department reported. Sherry Renee Edwards, 31, who police say is a transient, was arrested and booked into Santa Cruz County jail on mayhem charges after the 2:24 p.m. incident. The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to Dominican Hospital for possible reattachment of his right index fingertip. It was not immediately know whether the fingertip could be stitched back on. According to Santa Cruz police, alcohol played a significant role in the fight.
