Activists rally in Sacramento to abolish ICE, protest AG Jeff Sessions 'frivolous lawsuit'

- Activists from California Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance descended on a federal courthouse in Sacramento Wednesday calling for the abolishment of ICE and the need to protect sanctuary cities.

A bus load of young people left from Oakland, Los Angeles and San Francisco early in the morning to rally in defense of California's three sanctuary bills, AB103, AB450 and SB54.

Specifically, the group is protesting Attorney General Jeff Sessions' "frivolous lawsuit" against California's pro-immigrant policies, they tweeted.

In March, Sessions sued the Golden State for not doing enough to find and punish unauthorized immigrants.

“California is using every power it has — and some it doesn’t — to frustrate federal law enforcement,” he said in a speech in Sacramento at the time. “So you can be sure I’m going to use every power I have to stop them.”

Wednesday marks the first court hearing on the suit at the Robert T. Matsui courthouse..
