SAN JOSE, Calif. (KTVU) - Three suspects in a stream of robberies that targeted Asian women walking through San Jose parking lots have been arrested.
The arrest was made on September 4 and police announced it on Friday.
An investigation by the San Jose Police Department’s Robbery Unit unraveled a series of at least four robberies that occurred between August 2017 and September 2017. Two suspects, Dominc Shamo, 21, and Juan Arzate, 20, were identified in the case. Allegedly, the two forcefully removed jewelry from the victims and ran away on foot.
The third arrest made was a mentally disabled juvenile male that was directed by Shamo and Arzate to grab jewelry from the victims.
SJPD responded to a call for service from a concerned citizen on Monday, September 4. The caller witnessed the suspects following a victim. Officers responded and made an arrest in the area of McKee Rd. and N. Jackson Av. Patrol officers and detectives later linked the suspects to three other robberies in the area.
Shamo and Azarte were booked in the Santa Clara County Jail under robbery and attempted robbery charges. The juvenile suspect was booked into Juvenile Hall on the same charges.
