A man allegedly assaulted a woman early Tuesday morning on a BART train, causing trains to temporarily stop  at the Bay Fair station in San Leandro.

A watch commander told KTVU that police were called to investigate a report that a man was upset with a woman, who also was not cooperative with police. The two did not know each other, the watch commander said.

The man ended up removing the woman from the train, the commander said. And when police arrived, they placed the man under a psychiatric hold.

There were no immediate signs of physical injury, the watch commander said.

BART tweeted at 5:20 a.m. that trains were recovering, but that riders should expect a 20-minute delay in the Dublin, Warm Springs, Richmond and Daly City directions.
