Bay Area hit with another wet, windy storm

Heavy rain and strong gusts of wind caused trouble on the roads, minor flooding and scattered power outages across the Bay Area Saturday night.  Winds of up to 40 miles per hour also caused some significant delays at SFO, with almost 250 delayed flights reported and 47 cancellations on Saturday.  Even those accustomed to flying out of SFO during inclement weather, found the extra waits of 2 to 3 hours frustrating.

“You have to sit around, and it’s bummer and inconvenience,” said Esther Barrett of Monterey, whose flight was delayed by three hours.

In San Rafael, gutters overflowed with rainwater and the roads were slick for drivers.  People attending the Mill Valley Film festival welcomed the downpour.

“I love it, I would travel for rain like this, it’s perfect,” Kathy Ryan of Berkeley said.

In Millbrae, storm drains backed up on Mateo Avenue and rising water flooding the street and a few front yards.  But public works crews were able to clear the drains and prevent any property damage.
