Bobcat rescued after being hit by car, found stuck in grill during 50-mile ride

A Virginia woman took a bobcat with her to work on Thanksgiving morning after accidentally striking it with her car, according to officials.

Richmond Animal Care and Control say a woman, who was driving over 50 miles from Gloucester to Richmond, knew she hit something on her way to work, but it wasn’t until she parked her car that she found the large and unexpected stow-away lodged in the grill of her Prius.

Richmond Animal Care and Control says the animal miraculously survived a nearly hour-long road trip with only a small scrape on his back.

Richmond Animal Care and Control officers, with help on the phone from the state Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, say they worked to sedate and free the big kitty from the woman’s car and then transported him to the Wildlife Center of Virginia for treatment and release.
