Berkeley's Cafe Durant loses liquor license

Cafe Durant in Berkeley has had its liquor license permanently revoked after authorities found "multiple occasions" of the cafe selling alcohol to minors, according to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Three separate ABC investigations were conducted at the business at 2517 Durant Ave. during an eight-month period, resulting in three charges filed against the cafe involving the sale of alcohol to minors and allowing as many as four minors to drink alcohol on the premises.

Cafe Durant was fined $3,000 and received a 15-day license suspension in the first case and received a 25-day suspension in the second. The third accusation brought about permanent revocation of the liquor license, preventing the sale, service or consumption of alcohol at the site.
