Body camera shows Washington officer saving suicidal man on an overpass

A Moses Lake police officer pulled a suicidal man off a bridge Monday afternoon in Washington after the man started shifting his weight in a way that suggested he was getting ready to jump.

The entire encounter was captured on the officer’s body camera.

The distraught man can be seen straddling the guard rail of on overpass in the area of Stratford Road over SR-17. When talking seems insufficient, and moments after the man shifts his body, the officer darted in and wrapped the man up, pulling him to safety.

And moments later, the man was on the ground weeping. Police are not releasing the identity of the man, but say he is 45-year-old and receiving treatment at a local medical.
