Capitol Corridor train hits, kills person in Pinole

A Capitol Corridor train struck and killed a person on the tracks in Pinole Thursday morning.

According to the website 511.org run by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Capitol Corridor train No. 520 terminated in Pinole because of a medical emergency. The train's regular route runs from Oakland to Sacramento.

Someone was struck by the train and killed in the area of Tennant and Railroad avenues, according to the Contra Costa County coroner's office. More information about the incident was not immediately available.

According to 511.org, passengers should board the next train on the route, No. 522, and expect delays.
