Cause of Oakland's Alta Waverly construction site fire 'undetermined': ATF

The Bureau of AlAlcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on Friday said agents can't determine the cause of last month's fire at an apartment complex construction site called the Alta Waverly on Valdez Street in Oakland.

“After examining all the evidence, ATF has determined the cause of the July 7th fire to be undetermined,” Special Agent in Charge Jill A. Snyder, ATF, San Francisco Field Division, said in a statement.

While the investigation has reached a point where an “undetermined” finding is appropriate, investigators will continue to consider any new evidence or information provided by witnesses or community members.

Anyone with any information about a fire should contact ATF by calling 1-888-ATF-Fire, visiting www.reportit.com, or through the mobile “ReportIt” app available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
