CHP investigating fatal hit-and-run in Richmond

RICHMOND (BCN) - One person died early Sunday morning after a hit-and-run that occurred on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Richmond.

At 4:12 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers first received a report of a collision involving two vehicles on the highway, just west of the Carlson Boulevard onramp, according to CHP officials.

The victim, an adult male, was located in the roadway with major injuries, the CHP said.

He was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, CHP officials said.

No vehicles involved in the incident were located, according to CHP officials.

Officers are seeking a red Honda sedan that may have been involved.

The Honda is missing its right side side-view mirror and has damage to the right side of its bumper, the CHP said.

CHP officials issued a Sig-alert at 4:57 a.m., closing three of the eastbound highway's lanes. At 5:49 a.m., the Sig-alert was cancelled and all lanes of the eastbound highway reopened.
