Graphic Designer

SUMMARY: Create and design for on-air and print: News, promotion, local programming, and sports by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Produce designs and graphics for print material newspapers and magazine ads, merchandising material, posters, banners, flyers, brochures, letterhead, business cards etc.

Operate graphic equipment as needed including: Macintosh, PC platforms with various software such as: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Cinema4d. Other broadcast equipment and software such as Avid Deko and Curious Maps is needed as well.

Prepares storyboards for animation or graphic ideas.

Produces still and animated graphic formats for on-air and taped portions of television news broadcasts.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: College or Design/Art school training with an accent in commercial, graphic or animated area of design. An equivalent in experience is also acceptable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees and clients.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.

Employees accomplish their duties using safe work practices and equipment, while being responsible for reporting all injuries, observed unsafe conditions or practices to their leader.

Coach fellow employees on safe work practices as appropriate and contribute to the overall success of the company’s safety program.

Teamwork and the ability to get along with others is an essential function of the job. Angry, rude, disrespectful, insubordinate and uncooperative behavior can result in discipline, including termination.
