JOB TITLE: KICU/TV36 Retail Services Writer/Producer/Editor/Videographer

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Retail Services Director, write, produce, photograph and edit television commercials for KTVU and KICU clients. Work with Local Sales and Business Development Unit in developing new business and in supporting current advertisers by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provide the creative expertise in writing and producing commercials.

Produce and shoot footage for commercials.

Edit raw material using non-linear editing equipment (AVID & Final Cut Pro).

Meet with clients and work with Sales staff on budgets and billing of clients.

Guide and direct talent and technicians and coordinate the needs of KTVU and KICU, their clients and production facilities toward the successful completion of commercial production.

Assist Sales department in preparing speculative presentations.

Call on agencies and sponsors.

Seek out new avenues of revenue, such as teleconferences and program production for clients for use not related to KTVU and KICU. Negotiate rates and coordinate production of same.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, preferably in Marketing, Advertising or Television; and two years experience in supervising commercial production, or equivalent producing, director or sales work. (Or equivalent combination of education and experience)

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and commissions.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver's license with clear driving record required.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Computer knowledge/experience is required (Word/Excel/Outlook). Good understanding of television programming and production. Some general knowledge of technical aspects of television. General business experience and knowledge of related advertising businesses.

Must have good writing, directing, shooting and non-linear editing skills, including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. Must be highly organized and have a passion for creativity with ability to work in a high pressure environment while meeting tight deadlines. Must be flexible for weekend work and shift changes.
