SUMMARY: Performs functions of a News Video Editor, using the Grass Valley NewsEdit non-linear system, by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Edit raw video to predetermined lengths to tell compelling, understandable and accurate visual stories, following the instructions of producers, writers, reporters, supervisors, etc.  Exercise excellent professional judgment based on current broadcast industry video and audio quality and editing standards.  Follow station policies regarding journalistic standards of good taste, quality and appropriateness, and alert managers when questions arise regarding any of these concerns.

Coordinate editing information with writer, reporter, producer and/or supervisors.

Locate, file and computerize archival video.
Record video and audio feeds from sources including microwave, satellite, fiber, phone, and other web-based/internet feeds.

May be assigned as video producer on general assignment or special report stories.

Make dubs and prepare video for use in-house, in the field and for other related news department purposes.

May be assigned supervisory duties.   ** Shift subject to change **

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as news scripts, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to determine and carry out station standards of good taste.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Membership in IBEW required.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Operation of the Grass Valley Aurora non-linear editing systems, FTP upload process, and video file format conversions are required.  Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
