SUMMARY: Assist in the production of KTVU newscasts – printing scripts, fact checking, and generating news stories within KTVU’s standards and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Research and develop local news stories. Monitor wire services, mail, phone beats, radios, etc., for breaking news stories. At the direction of the Producers, help to ensure newscast runs smoothly.
This position requires weekend and/or early morning news hours.
Evaluate and list newsworthy events in computerized Assignment Planning files.
Staff assignment desk, helping assignment editor coordinate field crews and gathering background information on stories.
Gather file video needed by reporters, producers and editors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred; this is an entry level job for recent college graduates.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Must be aware of the development and urgency of news events and have the ability to cover and translate those stories into maximum viewer interest and involvement.
