Popular SF sandwich shop unleashes 'The Harbocalypse'

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. —

The well-known San Francisco sandwich shop Ike’s Place on 16th and Sanchez Streets has released a creation called ‘The Harbocalypse’, just in time for the Superbowl.

Inspired by and named after 49er head coach Jim Harbaugh, Ike’s Place owner & founder Ike Shehadeh constructed the Harbocalypse with the following: fried chicken, bacon, sweet chili glaze, avocado, and pepper jack cheese.

“So we wanted to take the regular Jim Harbaugh sandwich and take it to the next, like, a once-in-a-lifetime degree, which is what the Harbocalypse is,” said Shehadeh. “It almost happened last year too, so we took the regular chicken and made it fried, added bacon, used the same sauce, the sweet chili glaze, which I really love.”

The sandwich is exclusive to the San Francisco Ike’s location.

Ike is also doing a Colin Kaepernick vs Joe Flacco sandwich showdown. “We put out some feelers to the Ravens to see what Flacco wants on his. Know some people over on the 49ers and trying to see what Kaepernick wants…then we’re going to do, based on their performance, who gets to keep the sandwich on the menu.”
