Supervisor Jane Kim, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, and the Yerba Buena Community Benefit District (www.ybcbd.com) unveiled and installed San Francisco's first recycled cast iron artful bicycle racks - the first of 250 to be placed in the Yerba Buena neighborhood. The first one's that have been installed are located at Pocket Park which is at the corner of Howard & 4th Street.

The racks feature tire tread patterns that are the first of their kind in the city and will help meet the growing need for bicycle parking downtown. The racks are one of the elements of the Yerba Buena Community Benefit District's Yerba Buena Street Life Plan, a road map for improving public spaces in the neighborhood.

The racks themselves have been paid for by local property owners with the intent to make the area more comfortable and accessible to the general public.
The first 60 should appear during the next month within the district, which extends roughly from Market to Harrison and Second and Fifth streets.
