Facebook automatically sends notifications when users update their safety status.

The social media giant debuted the feature in 2014 and many users in Orlando turned to Facebook in the hours following the attack at Pulse, a terror attack in which 50 people were killed.

The fire broke out at the warehouse, located at 1305 31st Ave., in Oakland's Fruitvale District around 11:30 p.m.  During a Saturday afternoon press conference, authorities said four of the nine bodies have been removed but officials said they expected the death toll to grow.
