Fire rips through Bay Point neighborhood, burns 4 homes

BAY POINT, Calif. (KTVU) - A large fire ripped through a Bay Point neighborhood.

The fire broke out around 1 a.m., and burned four homes. Two of the homes were destroyed, the other two are damaged. 

The homes are located on Anchor Drive just south of Port Chicago Highway, and some railroad tracks.

Seven people were injured. Most of the injuries were smoke inhalation, while one person was taken to the hospital. 

One neighbor told KTVU, "It sounded like grenade explosions, but thankfully we're all OK."

The fire has since been knocked down. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

The Red Cross is at the scene helping displaced families.
