Gas leak prompts evacuations in Menlo Park

Evacuations are underway in Menlo Park after a two-inch gas line was hit by a construction crew doing work on a residential property.

Menlo Park Fire Department is evacuating buildings in the area of 1099 Cambridge Avenue out of "an abundance of caution."

One of the buildings evacuated is a daycare according to Menlo Park Fire Chief Harold Schapelhouman. 

The gas flow was stopped at 11:30 a.m. according to PG&E.  Repairs are expected to take several hours.
