Girl found living in Indian forest

Police in India are trying to figure out how a young girl, found living in the wild with monkeys, ended up there.

Police rescued the girl from a remote forest in January.

They say she was malnourished, couldn't speak or understand any language, and walked and made noises like monkeys.

Police say it was a struggle removing her from the wild becasue she was comfortable there. Doctors believe she is 10 to 12 years old.

Doctor D.K. Singh at Bahraich District Hospital says, "When she arrived here, her hair was disheveled, and she was not wearing nay clothes. She was very thin and weak and it seemed like she had not eaten for many days and her behavior was totally like an animal".

Doctors say the girl's health has improved since January. Police have been reviewing years of missing child reports to try and figure out who she is or how long she may have been in the wild.
