Horse recovering after falling in crevice during fires in Sylmar

- A horse fell and got stuck in a small crevice Tuesday morning as it ran from the Creek Fire raging  near Sylmar and it is now recovering.

FOX 11 reporter Gina Silva saw the trapped horse and alerted authorities and the public on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

FOX 11 aired the emergency live on television and in a matter of minutes, some viewers jumped into action. A veterinarian tranquilized the horse and LA County Fire freed up a small crew to help with the rescue.

Everyone worked together to tear down a wall to free the horse. The horse was then immediately taken to a nearby evacuation center.

The horse is now being cared for and is up and eating and doing much better.

Gina Silva shared more photos of the horse on Instagram.

Horse Rescue. Early this morning we came across this horse that got stuck in a small crevice as it was running away from the #CreekFire in #Sylmar. We took the emergency live asking for help because firefighters were busy battling the fire. In a matter of 20 minutes.. several viewers sprung into action. A veterinarian tranquilized the horse, others began moving furniture out of a garage and LA County fire freed up a small crew to help with the rescue. They all tore down the wall to free the animal. The horse was then immediately transported to a nearby animal hospital. A big thanks to all of the rescuers. We are certainly hoping this horse recovers from his injuries. #Horses #HorseRescue #Fire #LaCountyFire #Rescue #FoxLA
