Husband fatally shot wife in murder-suicide reported Tuesday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (BCN) - In a murder-suicide reported Tuesday in Santa Clara, an elderly husband shot his wife before killing himself, a police spokesman said today.

The names of the couple are still being withheld by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office pending the notification of their next of kin, Santa Clara police Lt. Dan Moreno said.

Police received the call reporting the murder-suicide at 12:04 p.m. Tuesday from someone who walked into the residence in the 2200 block of Homestead Road and discovered two bodies with gunshot wounds.

Moreno said no suspects are outstanding and there is no threat to the public.
