Petaluma police ask for help finding stolen gravesite totem pole

PETALUMA (BCN) Police are asking the public for help in finding a gravesite totem pole stolen from a Petaluma front yard two months ago.

Between 10 p.m. on Sept. 30 and 9 a.m. on Oct. 1, the 6-foot-tall wooden totem pole disappeared from the front yard of a house in the 200 block of Edith Street, police said.

Police said the pole was carved in 1996 to mark the victim's father's gravesite. She then moved the pole to her house.

The victim said the pole is worth about $2,000, but that the sentimental value is more important.

Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to call Petaluma police at (707) 778-4372.
