Sherri Papini Case: New video shows missing mother minutes before she was located

- Shasta County Sheriff's officials on Tuesday released surveillance video showing Northern California mother, Sherri Papini, minutes before she was found on the side of a road on Thanksgiving day last year after disappearing for 22 days.

The images were captured by a video at a Jehovah's Witness church in Woodland.

Papini can be seen running to the church and then south on Highway 99W until she goes out of view, heading toward the Interstate 5 northbound on-ramp in Yolo County, the sheriff's office said in a press release.

Investigators said the video surveillance date and time were validated by detectives as occurring at 4:15 a.m.

Minutes later, at 4:22 a.m. Yolo County sheriff officials received a 911 call about a woman identifying herself as Papini, after she had been found bound with restraints on the on-ramp to Interstate 5, by a passing trucker.

According to sheriff's officials, Papini later told investigators she was dropped off by one of her two captors who she described as a younger Hispanic female.

Sheriff's officials said in an earlier press release Papini "appeared battered and bruised, her hair had been cut to shoulder length and she had a brand on her right shoulder."

Papini told investigators her captors had kept their faces covered. She described one as a younger Hispanic woman with dark curly hair, pierced ears and thin eyebrows.

The second suspect was described as an older Hispanic woman with straight black hair with some gray and thick eyebrows.

Papini, then 34 years old, was reported missing by her husband, Ketih Papini, on Nov. 2, 2016 from Redding.

The disappearance sparked a massive search.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to contact the FBI at 916-746-7000, online at tips.fbi.gov or a local FBI office.

A reward up to $10,000 has been established for information leading to the identification of the suspects.
