Suspect arrested in fatal shooting in East Oakland

OAKLAND (KTVU) -- Oakland police said Thursday that they have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a man who was fatally shot in the parking lot of an East Oakland Home Depot store.

Authorities said in a written statement that Donald Aaron, 20, has been charged with murder in the death of Robert McCorvey, 22, of Pittsburg. Aaron was arrested on May 4, police said.

Investigators said McCorvey was shot in the parking lot of the Home Depot store, located in the 4000 block of Alameda Avenue, on April 30 shortly before 10:30 p.m. He died at the scene.

Police told reporters that McCorvey had just left work at the Home Depot when he was confronted by the gunman in the parking lot of the store, which shares the complex with a 24 Hour Fitness and a McDonalds.

Police did not provide a motive for the killing.
