Lawyer releases video of man being tased by Sonoma Co. deputy

A confrontation was caught on video between a man and a Sonoma County Sheriff's deputy, who was later charged with assault.

Fernando Del Valle recorded his encounter with deputies last September.

Neighbors had called authorities, after hearing an argument between him and his wife.

Del Valle's attorney says the video shows "a cut and dry case" of excessive force.

The video shows the man being tased by a deputy.

The attorney says Del Valle was also hit with a police baton.

Del Valle is expected to file a federal lawsuit against the county.

A sheriff's spokesman tells the Press Democrat newspaper that officials acted swiftly in firing deputy Scott Thorn.

He's now awaiting trial on a charge of felony assault by a law officer.

Thorne's lawyer says the deputy acted in compliance with his training, and Del Valle presented a danger.
