KTVU Channel 2 holds an open call for college interns three times a year, in May, August/September and December.
The Open Call for Summer 2012 internships has passed.
Open Calls are held at the KTVU studios, located at 2 Jack London Square, Oakland, CA 94607. Free parking is available. No RSVP necessary.
Please have enough copies of your application and resume for each department you wish to apply.
NOTE: Creative Services will not be inteviewing for a Summer 2012 Intern. All other departments will be available to interview prospective internship candidates.
Internships available at the staton:
KTVU NEWS/SPORTS: 3-4 interns per news program per semester, Mon-Sun/5am-11pm, 12 hours per week. General office work training, heavy phone activity, opportunity for viewing and pulling tapes for producers and writers. High interest in news desirable.
KTVU COMMUNITY AFFAIRS: 2-3 interns per semester, 20 hours per week. General office work training, heavy mail and phone activity. Weekly talk show opportunity for researching topics and booking guests. Help produce Public Service Announcements on location, script logging, script writing, learn about production needs.
KTVU CREATIVE SERVICES/PROGRAM SERVICES/STUDIO PRODUCTION: 1 intern per semester, 20 hours per week. Assist with promotion and publicity. Office work training, heavy phone activity. Learn production techniques in the making of promotional spots and publicity/marketing skills. Writing skills are important.
RETAIL SERVICES: Looking for hands on video production experience? The Retail Services Department, responsible for commercial production on KTVU & KICU, is looking for interns in our South Bay Studios.
KTVU SALES: 1-2 interns per semester, 15-20 hours per week. Work with Account Executives and Sales Managers on research, ratings, and projections. Powerpoint, Exel, and internet skills crucial.
TV36 SALES: 1-2 interns per semester, 15-20 hours per week. Learn about television sales, work with Account Executives and Sales Managers on research, ratings, and projections. Basic computer skills needed--Powerpoint is a plus.
KTVU MARKETING RESEARCH – 1 intern per semester, 15-20 hours per week. Learn about the types of viewers attracted to popular shows like American Idol, The Simpsons, and KTVU’s The 10 o’clock News. Gather a solid understanding of the various types of market research used and develop your very own custom presentation. Works with Director of Research. PowerPoint & Excel proficiency important.
