Vasco Road near Byron now open after major collision

A main road is open again in unincorporated Contra Costa County east of Byron this afternoon following a head-on collision, officials with the California Highway Patrol said.

Both directions of Vasco Road about three miles south of Camino Diablo opened around 4:32 p.m. The road had been closed for about two hours.

Authorities say four to six cars were involved in the crash that injured five people. CHP Officer Eric Anderson said the collision left two people with major injuries, two with moderate injuries and two with minor injuries.
