VALLEJO, Calif. (KTVU) - Vallejo Police have arrested a man after he allegedly hit and killed a teenager who was riding his bike with his father.
Officers arrested 53-year-old Joseph Jordan Jr. at his home in Vallejo this morning.
He is accused of vehicular homicide- after he veered off of the road and hit 16-year-old Guillermo Espinoza on July 13.
Guillermo died in the days after the accident.
Officers say, Jordan may have been on his phone at the time of the crash and are warning about the dangers of distracted driving.
"We're checking his cell phone records to determine if he was on the phone at the time of the collision", Lieutenant Michael Nichelini said, "If you're not paying attention when you're driving your 4,000 pound vehicle, it could do serious damage and could cause death."
Guillermo's family held a funeral today to honor the late teenager.
