Man rescued after being pinned between BART cars in SF Mission

BART is recovering from system-wide delays tonight after a man fell onto the tracks and was pinned between two train cars at San Francisco's 24th Street station.

BART officials announced a major delay at the 24th Street station at 6:14 p.m., primarily affecting passengers headed toward the East Bay.

Firefighters said the man was semi-conscious when they staged a technical rescue to get him off the tracks. He was taken to a trauma center around 6:45 p.m., and is said to be in serious condition.

The station closed temporarily but as of 7:49 p.m. it had reopened. Residual delays have been reported, however.

Police investigators said the incident appears to be accidental in nature, according to BART officials.
