The Marin Humane animal shelter continues to accept pets of evacuees who are unable to care for them or are unable to find someone else to care for them, shelter officials said.

Pets can be brought to the shelter at 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd. in Novato where they are being boarded for free.

Shelter officials ask that pet owners bring veterinary records and medications for their pets when they drop off the animal.

If a pet is sick, it should be taken to a veterinary hospital since the shelter does not provide critical care.

Marin Humane is providing food and bedding for pets.

Shelter officials have sent animal services officers into the fire zone to bring animals to safety and to conduct welfare checks on pets.

Shelter staff members are managing animal care for pets that are with evacuees at Marin County evacuation centers.
