Motorcyclist pronounced dead after collision Saturday night in Santa Rosa

A motorcyclist has died after colliding Saturday night with a vehicle on Highway 12 near Indian Creek Drive, police said.

The male victim, who has yet to be identified, was riding his motorcycle in the eastbound lane around 9:20 p.m. when the driver of a Honda Civic made a right turn from a driveway. The motorcyclist struck the back of the Honda and was thrown from the motorcycle, according to police.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the Honda and passengers were not seriously injured.

Witnesses told officers they saw the motorcyclist traveling at a high speed before the crash. Police do not believe the driver of the Honda saw the motorcycle before pulling into traffic.

Police are still investigating the crash and have yet to determine whether alcohol, drugs or driving speed were factors in the collision.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Officer Jeff Adams at (707) 543-3636.
