Two Bay Area destinations are closed Saturday as a result of the recent heavy rain.
Muir Woods National Park and Stinson Beach, both in Marin County, experienced severe flooding.
A Muir Woods Park employee tells KTVU that the park was closed around 8:30 AM due to flooding. One parking lot looked more like a creek, as nearby Redwood Creek rose to its banks.
Just south of the park on Muir Woods Road, water and debris made the road impassable.
The shuttle that routinely transports visitors to and from the park was unable to drive its normal route.
Muir Woods Park is automatically refunding all parking reservations for Saturday.
Stinson Beach is closed to vehicles and visitors today and tomorrow due to extensive storm damage.
The reopening date will be determined after all damagehas been assessed.
