The Napa High School football season is in jeopardy of being canceled entirely, in part, because of a hazing scandal involving a number of players, according to a report by the Napa Valley Resister.

The longtime head coach stepped down amid those hazing accusations.

Now the school is having trouble finding his replacement and that could put the football season in jeopardy.

According to the report, the district is warning parents and players that the season might be canceled if a head coach isn't hired.

Troy Mott, who coached the varsity team for the past 11 years, resigned back in March after allegations surfaced that some football players were assaulting teammates.

Napa Police have recommended criminal charges for the 14 players and one coach.

The scandal prompted the district to clean house. They told the entire coaching staff they would have to reapply for their jobs.

The principal has offered the head coaching job to several candidates, who have all have turned it down.
