Security cameras at San Jose school shot at, police don't find suspect
SAN JOSE, Calif. (KTVU) - San Jose police said they cleared the scene early Tuesday morning without finding anyone after a neighbor reported seeing and hearing a man who shot a gun near an elementary school.
According to San Jose police Officer Gina Tepoorten, at 3:49 a.m. officers responded to a report of a male suspect shooting a gun in the area of Booksin Elementary School, which is located at 1590 Dry Creek Road.
Yet, there was evidence of bullets; a security camera mounted above the school library looked to be a target. The camera wasn't hit, but the front of the building did have some damage.
A woman in the neighborhood walked called 911 when she and the dispatcher both her the shot.
Officers arrived at the scene and set up a perimeter around the school and searched the area, Tepoorten said. But after 90 minutes, she said the scene was cleared and no one had been found or arrested.
