ALAMEDA, Calif. (KTVU) - Alameda firefighters say one person has died in a Monday morning house fire, and neighbors describe him as elderly man who liked to cook a lot, but often fell down and passed out.
The fire was reported about 6 a.m. in 2300 block of Eagle Avenue.
Neighbor Kirk Giordano said the man, who is about 93 or 94 years old, "cooks a lot and often passes out. He'll fall down and he can't get up."
Giordano said the man had a roommate for a while, but had lived alone at the time of the fire.
"We haven't seen him come out," Shirlene Ballard-Grossman said.
