86-year-old man robbed at Powell Muni station

An elderly man was robbed at gunpoint at San Francisco Municipal Railway's Powell Street station on Saturday morning, police said.

Police said the 86-year-old man was approached from behind around 11:30 a.m. by someone who demanded money.

The suspect went through the victim's backpack and took a coin purse, cash, credit cards and an ID, then fled, police said. He had not been found as of this morning.

The elderly man was not injured in the robbery. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
