DANVILLE, Calif. —

A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with an armed home invasion in Danville on Wednesday morning, police said.

Police arrested Danville resident Brendan Fagen on Wednesday afternoon, hours after he allegedly broke into a home in the 1000 block of Fountain Springs Circle and held the homeowner and her child hostage, according to Danville police Chief Steve Simpkins.

Police said the homeowner returned home around 11:45 a.m. to find Fagen inside the house. The intruder then pointed a gun at the homeowner and her child, briefly holding the pair hostage and forcing them to move through the house before he fled.

Officers called to the scene a short time after the incident were unable to locate the suspect, police said.

Detective work led officers later in the day to identify Fagen as the suspect in the burglary.

He was arrested without incident and taken to county jail in Martinez, where he is being held on $2.1 million bail, according to police.

Police said they were seeking charges against Fagen including kidnapping with the intent to commit robbery, burglary, robbery and false imprisonment.

Detectives are actively investigating the case and are attempting to recover two guns stolen from the victim's house on Wednesday.

Anyone with information related to this case is urged to call Danville police at (925) 314-3700.
