VALLEJO, Calif. —

A Vallejo 14-year-old has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 65-year-old woman at gun point, forcing her to drive her mini-van to a rural area, assaulting her and then leaving her unconscious and duct taped in a ditch, authorities said Friday.

Vallejo police said officers were called to the area of Hiddenbrooke Parkway and Highway 80 around 6 p.m. Thursday after a passerby found the woman bound by duct tape in a ditch.

Interviewed at a local hospital when she is being treated for her injuries, the woman described for investigators her horrific abduction and assault.

Vallejo police said it all began with a trip to a local shopping center located in the 100 block of Plaza Drive on Thursday afternoon.

The woman said the 14-year-old kidnapped her at gunpoint in the parking lot, forced her to drive to a location miles away, where she was physically and sexually assaulted.

Upon contacting the victim’s family, investigators were told a caller had contacted them and demanded money in exchange for her return.

The teen fled the scene in the woman’s mini-van and was captured a short time later in the same area in possession of the vehicle and other property belonging to the victim.

Investigators said the teen also had a replica handgun.

The 14-year-old was booked into the Solano County Juvenile Hall on multiple charges including assault, attempted murder, carjacking, armed robbery and kidnapping for ransom.
