ANTIOCH, Calif. —

Antioch police arrested a man on suspicion of arson Saturday after he was seen walking away from a house on fire.

Dennis Wilkinson, 23, was detained Saturday after neighbors reported seeing him walking away from the burning single-family home at 1963 Deodar Ave., Sgt. Robert Quintero said Sunday.

The one-alarm fire was reported shortly after noon Saturday and quickly brought under control without injuries according to Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials.

However, investigators have determined the fire was intentionally set, Quintero said. Upon questioning, Wilkinson admitted starting the fire but said it was accidental, Quintero said.

Wilkinson's motivations for allegedly starting the fire remained under investigation Sunday.

Anyone with information on this incident was asked to call Antioch police at (925) 779-6926
