Bandits pepper spray employees during Walnut Creek jewelry smash-and-grab

WALNUT CREEK —

Two armed robbers sprayed Walnut Creek jewelry store workers with pepper spray and made off with several Rolex watches Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

The robbery was reported at 2:28 p.m. at the Davidson & Licht Jewelry Co. at 1258 Broadway Plaza.

Witnesses said that the two suspects walked in and while one sprayed the employees with pepper spray, the other smashed display cases with a sledgehammer.

They stole the watches and fled north on Broadway Plaza in a vehicle that had been waiting out front, according to police.

The employees were not injured and declined medical attention.

The two suspects are described as men in their 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches or 10 inches tall, with a thin build.

The pepper spray-wielding suspect was wearing a white hoodie, blue jeans, black and white sneakers, a black beanie and gloves.

The sledgehammer-carrying suspect was wearing a black hoodie, gray cargo pants, black and white sneakers and gloves.

The two suspects escaped in a black Infiniti SUV FX35 with a silver roof rack and silver rims. There was a third suspect driving the SUV, according to police.
