Investigators were searching for additional victims Thursday after a 31-year-old Santa Cruz man was arrested on child stalking and pornography charges, authorities said.
Joshua Paul James was arrested after two reported stalking incidents earlier in the week.
On Monday, two student athletes on a training run at Santa Cruz High School reported a car had followed them.
On Tuesday, someone called police to report a man photographing or filming female students in and around the grounds of Pacific Collegiate School on Swift St. A vehicle description was provided and detectives quickly realized both incidents were related.
Detectives began scouring the city streets looking for the suspect’s vehicle. They found the car parked in a lot near Front and Laurel Streets.
James eventually got into the car and drove away. He was stopped and taken into custody for questioning.
Authorities said he was subsequently arrested on several counts of possessing obscene matter depicting children as well as child annoying and stalking charges.
Detectives said James had been video filming and taking photographs of young females between 13-15 years for purpose of sexual gratification.
Police were in the process of meticulously going the through the images and hard drives found during a search of James’ home to identify any additional photographs and victims.
