A California Highway Patrol officer has been arrested on suspicion of inappropriately touching a disabled man in a shopping mall bathroom while off-duty.
Sacramento police Officer Doug Morse said 47-year-old Jeffery Closson was booked into jail Friday for investigation of sexual battery and disorderly misconduct. He was released on $5,000 bail.
After a 22-year-old man reported being inappropriately touched while in the Arden Fair Mall restroom on June 20, investigators reviewed surveillance video and eventually identified Closson as a suspect.
CHP spokeswoman Fran Clader told the Sacramento Bee that Closson has been placed on administrative duty pending an internal investigation into the matter.
The 25-year veteran was assigned to the air operations division.
Watchdogs are questioning an exclusive agreement between the City of Oakland and a non-profit group, tapped to lead a multi-million dollar project to redevelop the area around the Coliseum BART station.
