California Highway Patrol officers said Thursday they believed a sniper armed with a pellet or BB gun was responsible for shattering windows on at least 10 vehicles are they traveled on Highway 101 in San Jose.
Authorities said they began receiving calls from drivers reporting shattered windows as they drove on 101 at about 6 p.m. Wednesday near the McKee Road exit.
The calls continued until around 10 p.m. with a shattered window report near the Capitol Expressway exit.
In all, the CHP said, the agency had gotten reports from 10 drivers that their windows had been shattered.
Officers were dispatched to the scene on Wednesday night, but they could not locate a possible suspect.
After inspecting several of the vehicles, CHP investigators told KTVU they believed the damage was done by either BBs or pellets fired from a gun.
